Animation

A love story

Animation and I go way back, to the first time I saw Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro when I was 3 years old, the love of moving pictures captured my heart, and how they can reflect our human experience through their stories.

In my oil painting practice, I have often been frustrated trying to pick WHAT to paint, as my paintings are a living narrative in my head and painting one image is like pressing pause on a mind-blowing film and painting that one freeze-frame.

Learning animation has been the most rewarding (and sometimes frustrating!) skill that I have learned in the digital sphere, helps me bring my paintings to LIFE, and tell the stories that live in my mind's eye and heart.

The Living Goddess

HTML & JQuery

I created an animation using HTML and jQuery in Adobe Animate that explores how the archetypes of ancient goddesses influence modern culture today. This project involved researching various goddess archetypes from different mythologies and identifying their characteristics and symbolism using my own hand drawn illustrations in Adobe Fresco.

I wrote how these ancient figures continue to resonate in contemporary society, influencing fashion, media, and societal roles. The animation dynamically showcases these connections, combining visual storytelling with interactive elements to engage viewers and deepen their understanding of the enduring impact of these archetypes. Through this creative approach, I aimed to highlight the timeless relevance of ancient goddesses in shaping modern cultural narratives.

No Mud, No Lotus

Short Film

No Mud, No Lotus, is an ongoing personal project I have been working on since 2023. It stems from a series of my oil paintings (like most of my animations) and is in the process of being revealed as a short film. Enjoy a short clip below.
